 Let him down easy, just say that you realise you don't love him and you've got to stop because it's not worth carrying n. Say you want to stay friends (if you want to of course), but stop going out. Don't go out with someone else straightaway, if he takes it hard wait for him to get a gf first so he feels alright.

reader, anonymous, writes (28 September 2007): firstly think about it. Think about how he makes you feel, and do you look forward to seeing him when you are not with him? If you have definatley decided you dont love him, explain to him nicely that you did like him at first but over the last couple of months you have realised you prefer having him there as a friend. It will be upsetting for him but if he likes you / loves you, he wont be angry at you. Also it would be more upsetting for him if you kept him hanging on then let him down later. Lastly if ou do get a new boyfriend, dont flaunt it in this guys face and consider his feelings. Remember though, sometimes you dont realise what you have until you let it go.

 If your feelings are not there for him anymore there is not an awful lot you can do about it. The best thing you could do now would be to finish the relationship with him and tell him its over. Tell him sooner rather than later, the longer you leave it the harder it will get. Sure he will be upset that you want to finish, but its better than you continuing the relationship with him and ultimately leading him on.Do the right thing and finish with him as soon as possible, you will feel better in yourself as you know you will have done the right thing.Good luck x
