 I should talk to my wife about this. Could be an interesting conversation. Mine was at 15 or 16. Hers was at 12. So I was a nerd, but I got lucky and landed a pervert. She has never expresses regret at starting so soon. I wouldn't say I regret waiting. What she did regret was the guy who was Mr. Popular who went to another girl for the physical things she refused him. She regretted getting involved with a guy who was only interested in seeing how far she would go. She didn't regret not giving in.
My advice is not to do it just to get your card punched. Do it with someone who really matters to you.

It's not when that matters, it's who you're kissing and if they're worth it. Note though, that hundreds of diseases can be caught through kissing including STDs. So think hard before you go around kissing anybody.

There is no 'right' age, and you certainly shouldn't kiss somebody for the sake of it and to make sure you're in the 'Mr Popular category.' You should wait and not go for whoever.
Some people are never kissed but that doesn't mean there's something wrong with them. It's just the right time for you and your other person. So please don't categorize people according to their age when they're first kissed. 12 is really young and it's unlikely to be considered as a proper first kiss as it probably doesn't mean much. Plus it can be offensive to categorize people like that!
