Okay I was just wondering what would get rid of stretch marks? I have stretch marks due to pregnancy, really bad ones. My belly looks like it has pink Zebra stripes. I've heard Maderma helps them to fade, what else helps them to fade? And in the future what helps to get completly rid of them? Would plastic surgery?

eyeswideopen agony auntStrech marks are scar tissue. They do fade and become thinner but never disappear. To get totally rid of them you will have to shell out some big bucks. I can barely see mine but then my last baby just turned 28. My husband always called my strech marks my battle scars and said I should view them with a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Not My Name agony auntI'll second the bio oil!

I managed to get through my pregnancy without getting any stretch marks, but I was slapping bio oil on all through it to try to avoid it.

I can't say for certain that I would have just naturally not gotten any, but who knows, maybe it had a hand it why I didn't.

From memory it was around $18 AU for a rather small bottle - prob 50 ml tops - but a little goes a really long way.

Another product that may be worth a try is Vitamin E Oil - not cream with VitE in it, but the pure oil. It is a very viscous oil that can be a bit sticky after application (unlike bio oil that absorbs quite well without that gooey feeling) and is obtainable at most health food stores for around half the price of the bio oil.

I used to use this on my show dogs to dimish any existing scarring, and also prevent new wounds from scarring. They would come up flawless and even grow hair back where they should have had a bald scar.
