Hi there,

I'm looking for some advice on my current situation.

My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 and a half years. However, we've recently realised that we want slightly different things from life. Neither of us wants kids or marriage but he is a creative type and craves adventure while I am probably a little more conservative and would like to move in together (something he's not ready for yet).

We both love each other and cannot imagine ourselves with anyone else. Is this doomed or is it worth carrying on and seeing where things take us? I'm very confused as to what to do

thank you in advance

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (22 March 2009):

Can't you compromise?

Go travelling together for a year and see the far east or Europe or somewhere, and then come back, establish yourselves and move in.

He may well be adventurous but that doesn't stop him from moving in and then going off exploring for a few months either.

Find out a bit more specifically what he wants, and what you want, and then figure out a way to do both.

Good Luck!! xx
