Its now close to a month since I last heard from him. Does this mean its over? I have also not bothered to contact him. What could this mean?

 I quite agree with DESTINY23, the same thing happened to me there was no communication between me and my ex for like a month and a half and then he called, lol!! he will call u believe me, they always do, just hang in there! go out and enjoy your life in the mean time, u never know u might meet someone better, i did!! :)

means dont call him. I know its hard and your thinking why did I say that I was mad at the time but you did. If you call him he will not respect you and think your words mean nothing. My mother gave me good advice and it works never call men. You know why she tells me that because all men call back . There somthing about men its in there dna . They need to conquer so he will call you !! hang in there and be strong . Start dating and move on it will take the sting out of the waiting games.
