My g/f and i recently broke up as we weren't putting the effort in. She actually ended it but basically, she was right as we had became more like friends than

a couple.

However, I do still miss her companionship. How do i re-initiate contact to see her without her thinking i want her back, am needy etc and make her feel relaxed

(I can honestly say i can handle just being friends)

A female reader, anonymous, writes (1 November 2006):

In my opinion you miss the relationship with her, as for being just friends then that's going to be a difficult one. Maybe if you initiate contact with her she will think that you want to get back together. You say that you honestly want to be just friends, but maybe what you really want is to get back together in the long term? If you start a friendship again are you sure that you haven't got feelings for her, because if she hasn't got any for you, you are going to set yourself up for heartbreak all over again. Think about this one carefully before you contact her.
