heya :)

well I'm 28 weeks pregnant with my first baby - a lovely little boy! :D Although everything has gone ok so far my bump is pretty small for the stage I'm at =S...alot of people have commented on how small it is in fact, some saying i will probaly have a small baby...But i had a 28 week scan this week and the woman said my little prince is growing beautifully and is "above average" growth wise...so now i'm REALLY confused..why is my bump so small? I was pretty slim before getting preg (uk size 6-8) so could that be why? Do you think i will have a bigish baby if he is above average at this stage? thanks very much guys xx

hlskitten agony auntCould just be that you are naturally slim. If this is your first, thats more than likely. Baby could be tucked under the ribs. Scans are nutorious for being innacurate at sizeing babies, and a woman i know was told her baby was small, but he turned out average size, andother was told hers was big, but it turned out small. But as long as the hospital are happy, then you should be.

Good luck.

When you are young, your muscles are tighter and the baby is often 'hidden' behind. Hence, the majority of 'unexpected' babies are born to young mothers. It sounds bizarre but it is true, google it.

When you fall pregnant with your first cgild you generally are pretty small as this is the first time you've been stretched this way.

My brother and I were my mother's third pregnancy (we're twins) and she didn't show with us until she was five months (and my brother was HUGE)

I guess you're just lucky.

Plus, at this stage you're baby will be still extremely small so you're not supposed to be too big.

Appreciate the fact that you're not covered in stretch marks!

Best of luck (and congrats!)

You are ok remember that at this stage your baby is very small no more than a couple inches. As long as your doctor didn't say that you need to gain weight you are fine. Also the medical average of weight a woman is suppose to gain is 25 pounds but most women gain 50. Maybe you are one of the lucky ones who will only gain 25. Trust me if something was wrong the doctor would have told you. My friend is about 22/23 weeks pregnant and through out her pregnacy she has lost 20 pounds which she was a bigger girl to begin with and the only thing the doctors are worried about is that she is still throwing up. If the doctor is worried he/she would have said something. Also you must be doing something right if your baby is bigger than normal. He is obviously getting enough food.
