My girlfriend and I had summer vacation separately, so we had to LDR for 2 months. We talked about the kinds of photos we sent each other: no nudes, because in the event we ever broke up with each other, we didn't want to have cannon fodder to screw the other.
Just look on facebook, they're are plenty of racy profile pics, so I'm pretty sure you can come up with something that's sexy but tame enough in the worse case scenario it gets posted publicly.
Don't feel shy about the pose. If your boyfriend is into you, he'll be happy with anything you send - trust me ;)
(Sticking hips out and blowing a kiss is probably my favorite).

 You should never do anything you feel funny about doing no matter what it is or who it is fore.
Just so you know that once you hit the send button on a sexy picture you better be prepared to deal with the long term consequences of where that picture could end up.
If you are underage someone can get into a ton of trouble. If it is posted on the internet is could find its way into the hands of your would be employer and be brought up during a job interview.
As a business manager myself, I am not above googling my prospective hires and if I did find some racey picture out there, you can bet I would bring it up in an interview.
