There is this girl. She has been my best friend for 8 years or more. There is nothing that I wouldn't do for her. Recently, we have messed around. We both thought it was going to be weird being around each other, but it kind of made us closer. We have had a few talks about us being together but we were too intoxicated to remember everything. From what I can remember she said that she wants to see fireworks. And also that she is scared that if things don't workout, it will hurt our relationship. This isn't my first rodeo with her. If I ask her out it will be the 3rd time that I have put myself out there. The last time was 3 years ago. At that time we were not ready for it. She is 24 and I am 26. Now I think that if she would let it happen, it would work out fine. I really don't know what answer I'm looking for. She knows its coming. I just know she was acting like she was up for it, but then out of nowhere she has been avoiding me.

A female reader, mrs.smith81608 United States +, writes (19 May 2009):

Your friend is probably just like you said, willing for it, but is afraid of the outcome should things end badly. I would talk to her further in detail but maybe in a hypothetical way. Don't throw yourself to the wolves just yet, and feel it out first. Then see how she reacts to that. If she is still cool with the idea, then pitch it to her. Good luck, I hope you get what you're aiming for! ;)
