Question - (7 May 2009) 2 Answers - (Newest, 7 May 2009)
A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

hi i know you guys are not doctors but i was jsut wondering whether anyone has had this before or whether someone recognizes it?

on my tongue it's like a chunk of it is coming off looks like an ulcer but IT'S NOT! i know because i[ve had it for months it's really annoying because i can feel it and i keep playing with it as i want it gone i can't bite it off bbecause it's still semi attached you know when you have a scab falling off/

it's like that but not a scab obviously it's like a bit of my tongue and i'm not sure what it is. it just never heals up i don't know whether new cells underneath it have grown through

does anyone recognize this type of thing?

like i've said i know you guys are not doctors i just wanted to see if anyone has had anything like this before.

Thank you.

A female reader, DrPsych United Kingdom +, writes (7 May 2009):

DrPsych agony auntIt would be very difficult for anyone to diagnose such a problem without seeing it - it certainly needs looking at by a doctor because your tongue is a very important part of the body. It could be something straightforward like a thrush infection or wart virus but obviously any abnormal changes anywhere on the body need checking out by your doctor.

Could be a flap of skin, could be a tumour.

Book a time to see your GP and find out!

Good Luck!! xx
