HereAreMyTwoCents agony auntGirls need to worry about being overly hairy, because a lot of body hair is a sign of masculinity, since hair growth is stimulated by the presence of testosterone. Guys don't need to worry about being overly hairy, because a lot of body hair is a sign of masculinity, since hair growth is stimulated by the presence of testosterone. Did you get all that? In other words, stop worrying about it. You are meant to be that way. You're a guy. End of story. If you encounter a girl that really doesn't like a hairy man at all... whatever. Seriously. It's probably the equivalent of a man prefering a woman with larger or smaller boobs, a matter of preference. And probably an unfortunate byproduct of how men's bodies are idealized in Calvin Klein ads and Hollywood. Guys are meant to be hairy, as prescribed by Mother Nature herself.

Lola1 agony auntMy boyfriend is a hairy man. He has hair on his back, chest, etc., etc., etc. Sometimes he chooses to have me trim it with clippers (when it impedes his comfort or when we are going on a beach vacation), but that's his choice and not mine. I doubt I would notice if he didn't have me help him.

You may encounter some shallow girl from time to time that has an issue with a physical flaw you have (maybe its hair, maybe its the way your teeth are, maybe its your shoe size), but most girls would not be turned off by you and some may enjoy it.

I would certainly NOT spend money to remove the hair. All men have hair and many in all of the areas you've described. Its part of being a man.

Embrace it. ;-)

A female reader, anonymous, writes (29 September 2009):

First you should accept your body for whatever it is. No one is perfect and you shouldn't compare yourself to others. Now every girl is going to have a different opinion but hair is much more acceptable on guys than on girls. Personally i like guys with hair, it's manly. I'm sure you'll find a girl who feels the same. Don't change yourself unless it's something you want for you, not for someone else. If it really bothers you, you could always use some scissors or clippers and just trim it a little shorter but hair is natural and it's perfectly normal no matter how much or how little hair you have.
