Pornographic Profiles on Social Sites

Question - (19 March 2010) 1 Answers - (Newest, 19 March 2010)
A female United States age 51-59, *nmyknees writes:

My 47 year old boyfriend of 4 months has a Tagged profile. On his friends list he has several young sexy fake friends (ages 18 to 22) who are actually links to porn. He says he is not even aware that they are porn profiles until I point it out and that he only has them to build up his Mafia Wars. When I get upset he deletes them but then he starts adding them all over again soon after. I don't know how fake profiles can add to his Mafia. They would have to be real in order to respond to his Mafia request and actually play. Anyway, he says having them on his profile is harmless and I am over-reacting by not liking it. I say it's disrespectful to me. He says he is not disrespecting me and it in no way affects how he feels about me. Well, it affects my feelings, because it's causing me to feel old, ugly and undesirable. Should I be concerned about this or am I over-reacting/

A female reader, Spades Canada +, writes (19 March 2010):

Spades agony aunt1) I think it's good that you can honestly admit how it makes you feel.

However I do think you are over-reacting. Assuming it is just their profiles that he has added or accepted a request from, I don't think it's a problem. It could very well be for his game. You havn't mentioned him making any contact with these "women", so I'm left to assume that he hasn't made any.

So, no. I don't think you should be concerned.
