Anal sex is a very risky sexual behavior and there is no such thing as safe sex or safe anal sex, although you can reduce the risk to YOURSELF by using a condom and reduce the MESS by using enema's and anal douches. But, the real burden of risk falls on the reciever and you seem like a real gem of a human being so concerned about the risk of infection and mess for YOU deal with!!!!

reader, anonymous, writes (26 September 2010): You absolutely should use a condom with anal sex. Anal tears are pretty likely with anal sex because, unlike a vagina, the anus isn't made to stretch, but acts more like a giant muscle, which is how feces come out.
You'll also need some really good water-based lubricant to prevent any tears or damage to her anus and to be sure that there is plenty of lube for her to be more comfortable.
What I think is interested, though, is that you're worried that anal sex will be gross. If that's the case, do you really think you're ready to try it?
