My sheets were stained with blood..was it from my period starting??

Hi, just wondering if anyone could help, i am 18years old and have been with my bf for 2years and sexually active for 1. I usually have regular period cycles, starting between 1st-6th of every month, but on wednesday after sex, i found the sheets stained with blood and blood when i wipes myself. Today (friday) it seems i have started my period- was that just period blood? Any answers really appreciated thanx :)
