Hi

In the beginning, my crush and I chatted a little on IM (she would initiate a conversation every so often, and so would I). She has since moved to another country. Lately though, I found that I was initiating a conversation on IM more often. I asked her if I was annoying, she said "no, not at all." However, I felt as if I was being annoying, and worse, desperate.

I decided to take a break from starting any kind of conversation for more than a month now. She has not talked to me either. Has she a) lost interest in me, and b), Should I try to talk to her? Did trying to not seem desperate and annoying backfire on me? I feel as though I should just let the whole thing fizzle out, and move on.

A female reader, tayalouise United Kingdom +, writes (10 October 2008):

tayalouise agony auntI am slightly in the same situation as you, but on the other side of things.

My long distance boyfriend is pretty much always the one who phones me, but recently he hasn't that much and it has made me wonder what has happened and I'm never sure whether I should contact him, or if there is a particular reason he is no longer calling etc. and I should leave him to it.

So maybe your crush feels like me and doesn't want to bother you, because she feels if you wanted to talk you would like you normally do, with you calling first.

I could be wrong, long distance is tricky
