brooke5426 agony auntOk, your not happy with your life and a few things in it have to change. changing your life isnt as hard as it sounds. its all the little decisions and little actions that make it happen.

look for a new job, think of something you really WANT to do and can do. my dad always said if you find a job you love you'll never do a days work in your life. and its true. if you feel like you need a complete change of scenery and really need something totally different try working abroad! thats what i'm doing next summer just out of sheer boredom with my life and wanting to try something different.

im off to greece to do bar/pr work and work my way through the summer and i couldnt be more excited. i think you should try something similar, if the job you have now isnt going anywhere then you dont have anything to stay for. it sounds like the perfect time for you to do something like that - you dont have a boyfriend, mortgage, job you would be crazy to leave or any other ties and instead of getting down about those things you should turn them into a positive. you can do anything you want to do you just need to figure out what it is you want then take a deep breath go out there and do it. it really is that easy.

all the best

brooke

A female reader, baby duck United States + , writes (19 December 2007):

baby duck agony auntOoh, honey! First of all, I am so glad you maintained your boundaries and left; he cannot get the message that it's okay to push you. Hopefully, your mom will open her eyes about a man that shoves people, especially her own daughter, and leave him, too. Alas, she is the only one that can save herself.

Now, next step. Love life can wait a bit, 'til you get your ducks in a row. Start fleshing out that resume', get yourself a better job, and move out! If you can't rent on your own, enlist a girlfriend or two, but be careful to choose roomies that are close to your level of cleanliness, party habits, etc, or that'll just be a brand new problem.

Once you're independent from your folks, you'll be on to new things ... like a relationship, maybe. Don't rush it, lest you end up with some creep. Take your time. You're worth it.

Best wishes.
