writes:My ex girlfriend is 38 i'm 44 and she works away a lot. 3 weeks ago after texting as normal i asked her if she was ok and she said fine how about you? i said i think we need to talk and from that point within 30mins she said no she's not fine and we were finished. she said shed ring me but later texted me to say her phone wasn't working and we would speak when she got home. she also texted me to say she was run down and felt like i was taking her for granted. 3 days later when she came home she wouldn't talk. she just kept saying she had no feelings for me anymore and hadn't done for 4 months and that she had tried to change how she felt towards me but things hadn't changed. we've been apart 3 weeks and not heard from her. is there someone else or will she come back?

 Don't put too much stock on the "let's be friends " It's one of those things that people say to soften the blow , to let you down easy , but it's not to be taken literally. It's a way of saying : let's not hate each other, let's not have hard feelings, let's act civil if we bump into each other. But , you can't really expect she'd show up at your door with two tickets for a movie or play you like, as a friend may do.

reader, anonymous, writes (11 April 2011): thanx for your answers maybe i should have waited till she came home and yes i thought the sane thing maybe she thought i was going to dump her. she also said she wanted to stay friends which i find very strange and confusing because if id dumped her and hurt her feelings i wouldnt expect her to speak to me again or want to stay friends. that is why i wondered if shed be back keeping me as a friend is a way of keeping me hanging around. thanx for your advice and any more would be greatly appreciated.

reader, anonymous, writes (3 April 2011): What makes you think she will be coming back, did she say something to give you that impression? I think telling you she has no feeling for you anymore is pretty finial. I would say she's gone and not coming back.
