 Well if he's spreading nasty rumors about you, I think it's about high time you got over him. Who broke up with who here? Just trying to understand why he would spread rumors about you or call you hurtful names.
The only thing you can do is ignore him and eventually he'll stop. One because people will stop caring about the rumors and two he'll see that it no longer affects you. If people ask you about the rumors, simply tell them they're lies and for some reason your ex is doing this to get back at you. Make him look like the jerk he really is. They're nothing but rumors, sweetie. You know that they're not true.

It hurts right now but it will pass and people will move on. for now just know that you never did what these rumors say, and don't fight the rumors more than saying no when people ask you if it's true because it will get worse if you do.
