Guys aren't very good at reading subtle signals from the opposite sex, so you just have to give him an unmistakeable sign - or just plain say it to him. Guys are always flattered by attention from girls, and even in the extremely unlikely event that he isn't interested at the moment, you both will know that the possibility is there for another time - that will boost both your egos.

 i think he does like you hun i think he likes you more than a friend but because maybe you've not shown any signal as to whether you feel more than friends with him he says just as friends so you don't feel maybe feaked out that he likes you.
if you feel the same way tell him and see how it goes :)
