Are love letters effective when it comes to letting a guy know that you are interested in him, or is it a childish or high school act? Just wondering. Thanks

CindyCares agony aunt I think a love letter is a very sweet gesture for two people who are already together. But if the guy does not know yet you are interested and this would be your way to let him know... mmm. Better not. He'd see it as coming on too strong. Too "serious" as a first approach.

chickpea2011 agony auntHi,

Depends on the relationship, the person and how close you both are.

If you're just friends? Then it might be risk, because you don't know for sure how he feels about you.

Maybe a nice card, letting him know that you're happy to have him in your life. That you enjoy spending time with him and that you hope you become closer with time. Tell him that you'll love to get to know him better.

Love letters are great! Receiving, giving. Its very nice and I feel that help couples get closer. Some people have difficulty expressing and love letters are great way.

Good luck

Dear Mandy agony auntHI

I think it is BETTER writing a letter, or a romantic poem, than emails or texts, people forget how now days and it's a shame. My ex always loved me writing letters and poems to him, infact we were speaking about it the other day, and he still has them all!!

I agree with spinmaker there is nothing childish about writing love letters as the song goes ( love letters straight from your heart ) xx

A male reader, anonymous, writes (14 June 2011):

I like to write love letters. My lady does not, but likes to receive them.

Overall, I think most people like a well-written letter or even a short "sweet nothing" note. You can say things in letter you might not say face-to-face. I can't say everyone feels the same way I do, but I like love letters.
