writes:i just found out i'm about 4 weeks pregnant. i got drunk last night and i have drank heavily another 2 times in the past four weeks. i also tried cocaine for the first time when i must have been 3 weeks pregnant. i had about 3 lines and i'm really scared i've done so much damage to the fetus. i know i shud tell my doctor but i'm really embarressed about what ive done. i've also smoked a small amount of marajuana on 1 or 2 occations in the first 3 weeks. i'm not some sort of psycho druggy and if i go through with this pregnancy i won't do anything else to harm my baby, but do you think the damage is done? should i abort or wait til a scan, maybe they could see if something was wrong?

reader, anonymous, writes (12 September 2010): I think you should tell your doctor about it, that is the smart thing to do...The doctor will know what to look and test for once you are completely honest.Try not to stress yourself out over the things you have done, just make better lifestyle choices from now on. Like Jmtmj said, your baby could still be perfectly healthy. God is good and merciful.

 I totally agree with Jmtmj, just wait for a scan and being that it's only your 4th week of pregnancy I think you should be fine. If you do collect enough courage you could tell your doctor about it though, just to be on the safe side, I'm sure they'll understand once you explain it to them the way you did to us. Best of luck!

 Wait for a scan. Druggies and drunks can still have perfectly normal babies, they're just not recommended lifestyles as the risk of abnormalities increases.
Don't beat yourself up either way... you didn't know you were pregnant and had you known I'm sure you wouldn't have done anything you knew could hurt your baby.
