He'd always invite me places, have dinner at his place, hang out, etc. For a year I was so in love with him and kept thinking that it could get romantic. I suspected but didn't know he was gay until he came out with it.
We were still friends, but I felt really broken hearted knowing that what I wished for would never be. It was actually too difficult for me to stay in touch with him, and we drifted apart.
I think it's probably obvious to him how you feel. You already know he's gay, so you just have to accept the fact that that perfect relationship with this man will never be. If you can handle that and still be friends, then that would be best. It's really difficult to just be friends with someone you're in love with, but try your best not to lose that friendship. I really regret losing my guy as a friend.
