It depends what the guy is after. If he wants sex quickly and is not intrested in a long-term relationship then obviously a virgin your age is bad news. If you managed to say no for so long then changes are he is not going to get you into the sack on the first date and therefor he won't bother.

If he is however after a long-term relationship with feelings of love, he most likely will be secretly pleased. While it isn't PC to say, most men would be fairly happy to find their bride is a virgin.

On the whole I would suggest that if a man is unwilling to date a virgin who wants to wait till the relationship is deeper then he is more likely to be just intrested in sex.

You are the person you are and someone will love you for it. Just got to hope that the two of you know it when you meet.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (18 July 2008):

In my experience, young men are normally a little surprised and turned off to find out a woman is a virgin (that is, if they expect to have wild or experimental sex). What it means for a man, is that he will have to go slower with you and that he might not have all his sexual urges satisfied right away. If you are with a decent guy, then he will probably be understanding (because he will care more about you than the physical act). However, if he is just looking for a sexual partner...he may count you out of the running. If that is the case, your better off without him.

The bottom line is this: If the guy is really interested in you, he might be surprised but not bothered by it. If the guy acts surprised and turned-off, like you just stepped on his heart (more like hard-on), then say farewell to him...for you will have figured out his true motives.
