A female Venezuela age 26-29, anonymous writes:

i know this may sound a little stupid but, iv recently noticed that sometimes i dont breath at all. its not like im holding my breath with blown up cheeks or something; it tends to happen when i am deeply focused on something or im thinking deep on something, i dont have my oesophagus closed or my mouth and nostils shut, i just have my mouth, nose and lungs open, my airhole where the end of the tongue is is wide open, i just dont exhale or inhale. only when i realise that i dont breathe is when my heart panics and i have to gasp for air.

is this natural??

It can come from stress, or deep thinking where your not really physically conscious. What I did was pit a sign on my door that says breathe so I realise!!

MonksDaBomb agony auntI've had this happen to me, too. I'll be deep in thought about something, really focusing, and I'll notice my breathing is out of breath and I've realized that I hadn't really been breathing for a second or two. Unless if you feel light-headed or something, it's nothing to worry about.

The Realist agony auntThis can be natural. When I have been really focused during physical activity such as situps I tend not to breath and have to consciously think about breathing. Try to focus on breathing when you are in tha state. Your body won't let you hold your breath too long it might just take a bit of practice to get rid of the gasping at the end.
