It just depends on the ages of the people involved. At you're age I wouldn't consider it a major difference and you're both young enough to share the same interests etc
It may cause a little inconvience at times and some compromising, but don't all relationships?

In your case, the gap may not be that significant. If you're 21, he's 29; if you're 18, then he's 26. If you're just starting college, however, and he has already ended it and is looking for further studies, that can be a problem. I think it's not so much the number of years, but the stage of life you're in that matters.

I really think its depends on first of all what you and your partner are comfortable with and the maturity level of both partners. Since you are both consenting adults, I don't think its really that big of a difference.
