Amywiglet agony auntThe answer to this is no it is not a big thing, there is 7 years between my mum and dad and it doesn't seem like it, plus they dont notice it, and there is 13 between my nan and grandad he is now 100 and she is 87 and when they were married it wasn't noticeable and trust me as long as you love eachother it's not a big deal at all. I am surrounded by it and i personally feel that it can actually make their marriages stronger.

So go for it.

Age shouldn't matter, but you have to think longer term. My husband is 7 years older than me now. I'm 40 he's 47...we've been together 18 years. I want to leave, but can't.

I feel older than my 40 years and get frowned on for saying so, or even wanting feel younger than my years. I've always been out with older men, when you're younger, they offer stability and experience. When YOU are older, you may want someone you can relate to more so. Things don't always stay the same and choices can change too. I'm sure lots of people are very happy, but equally there are many that are not. Only you and your partner can deal with it but you need to be aware of life changes.

From personal experience, my mother is eight years older than my father and they have been happily married for twenty years with two children. Age doesn't matter when it comes to love.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (18 December 2007):

No. I dated someone ten years older than me and he said that I was the love of his life. So there you go. Like the other poster said, it just depends on whether you click or not. He could be 7 years or just 1 year older and if you click you just click.

birdynumnums agony aunt18 and 25 or 21 and 28? If you are 18, there might be a bit of a gap in mutual experiences and maturity, less so if you are 21 years old. I really think that it would depend on both of you.

In any case, at 18, you are old enough to make these decisions for yourself, based on your own thoughts and feelings on what you know about yourself and what you know about him. Trust in your own instincts and judgement.

witch-fire agony auntI don't think so. Look at Catherine Zeta Jones. Its a twenty year gap or something between them.

If it makes you feel better I like a guy and its 6 years difference btween us.
