Tell him how you feel, but if he tells you he's involved with someone else, married or just plain rejects the idea of dating you, even just being friends might make you feel better than you do now.
It's most likely fear that's holding you back from telling him how you feel, so just get up the nerve to initiate, and the worst that can happen is he just doesn't want to be around you or know you. At least then you can feel better knowing you gave he and yourself a shot, even if he doesn't(or can't).
