I'm afraid of love...

Question - (1 August 2010) 2 Answers - (Newest, 2 August 2010)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I'm 17 years old, and as long as I have lived I have never seen a good marriage. My parents divorced when I was 4, and all of my aunts and uncles have been married more than once. Seeing this has made me terrified. I don't understand how love could be so beautifully portrayed on film, but seen nowhere in my life.

I've seen marriage after marriage disintegrate and it has really scarred me. I have no faith in love and have problems trusting guys. I have been told that I am young, and it's okay to not get serious with guys, but I know these issues are going to affect me at a later point in life.

I have this fear that my future husband will cheat on me or just stop loving and caring. It hurts so much because I know that I could NEVER do that to a person. I don't want to live a life without love, but I'm terrified that that love doesn't last forever and that everything must come to an end.

I have serious issues.

I don't know what I expect anyone to say. I just wanted to share my feelings.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (2 August 2010):

I'm 18 and I feel the same way you do. My parents have really had a rough marriage and I've seen more than enough fights and violence. I feel like no man would ever love me but of course I wouldn't cheat or anything. I guess we need to let go of this irrational fear...

You're still so young, you're not rushing to get married are you? Now you should have fun and when the time comes you'll know in you're heart what to do, believe be :)
