A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I have a problem with telling myself to relax. I just recently got a new part time job to have while im at college and I start really soon. Im so scared because imma be around a unfamiliar group with no friends or family. I'll basicly be on my own their the reasons im scared is because Im worried what my co-workers and managers will think of me because i'll get nervous doing my jobs and im scared i'll make a mistake and mess up. and when I mess up I think they will say he's to slow or something is wrong with him or he dont know how to do anything and they might fire me because of that. I have doubts and negative thoughts flowing through my head because im scared i'll mess up or won't fit in. Im nervous that the managers will be showing me how to do my job and the negative thoughts might distract me from listening or make me forgot everything I learned. I dont wont them to think im not right for the job because i believe i can do. I wanna go in with confidence as the new person. I have a habbit putting myself down when it comes to trying my best.the last reason is because im scared i can't be myself. I don't wanna be a faker because im scared of what my co-workers and managers will think of me. All of these thoughts are going through my head and i kno its gonna keep me from focusing. I start soon and this is killing me. How can i make my situation better?

aunt honesty agony auntEveryone gets nervous starting a new job. Believe me it is normal. It is a big change for you now moving on to the next step in your life and it is normal to feel anxious and stressed and this usually leads to negative thoughts. There are herbal remedies you can get to calm your nerves. But just remember the worst thing that can happen is they let you go because you are not performing well. That is the worst case scenario, so just remember that nothing really bad will happen if it does go wrong. We all need to take risks in life, all you can do is try your best. Good luck.
