Hi, this is probably the wrong site but I'm so scared and need advice.

I'm 27 and think I have ovarian cancer. Before you say see a doctor- I made an appointment and the soonest they can see me is 3 weeks so of course I'm on the websites Reading about it and the more I do the more I'm convinced I have it.

Since last year I had bad bloating and pelvic pain not related to my period and a urinating more often- all signs of OC. The only symptoms I don't have is the difficulty in eating or feeling full after a meal. My appetite is fine and I've not lost any weight. The pains come about twice a month and then go. At 1st I thought it was eating carbs and eating stodgy food but then came across an article about OC which made me worry.

I know it can be a number of things but because I don't have children or never been on the pill makes me a higher risk but there's no history of cancer in the family.

Dont be worried untill you really come up to know its really cancer or anything else. Try to relax and leave it to medical teams to check up. Dont browse through websites as they will haunt you meaninglessly. See .there must be an aim in life. IF YOU GOT TO LIVE YOU GOT TO LIVE AND NOONE CAN TAKE YOUR LIFE FROM YOU. better drink some chilling juice or a small warm tea and relax.

Head to an NHS walk in centre. Don't wait for your own GP. Walk in centres are really good and they should be able to see you on the same day. Good luck xx

A reader, anonymous, writes (11 August 2010):

I can imagine you must be very scared right now. Is there any way you could get an earlier appointment? If you explained to the doctor that you are really scared and would really prefer to see someone sooner, do you think there would be any chance they could rearrange and see you a bit earlier? I guess it can't hurt to try.

But if they really can't see you until a few more weeks, then there really isn't anything you can do in that respect. I know this sounds impossible to do, but try and stay calm about it. I had a health scare a while ago too, and I did the same as you. I researched my symptoms on the internet, and came up with some frightening conclusions. I recognised my symptoms in some scary diseases and cancers, and became convinced I had something really awful.

So I think it would definitely be a good thing to try and stop reading into this. Stop looking on the internet about ovarian cancer, stop reading anything about it. I know this will be hard and will take some willpower! But really, what good is it doing you? All it is doing is scaring you. The truth is, you don't know what is wrong. Nobody does at the moment. It could be something small, it could be something bigger. But either way, you have done what you can for now. You have made an appointment, and that is all you can do right now. Now is the hard part - waiting in uncertainty. It is horrible, I know. But the more you look into it, the more you worry about it, the worse it will feel.

If there IS something wrong, you will deal with it. You are seeing a doctor and they will take care of things. They will be able to start treatment, do tests, whatever it takes, but it will be dealt with in the best way possible. It will be okay, and you will deal with it. That's if there is something wrong.

So until then, try as much as you can to stay calm, and distract yourself when the fears kick in. Do anything else, but avoid looking for information. Everything you read will just scare you more, so try and resist that if you can! I really hope things go okay for you, take care. x
