If you really don't wanna tell your mum, I think you might be too young to get a doctor's appointment on your own in the UK, but you could always try. If that doesn't work, you can just go to Boot's or any other chemist and buy a pessary/tablet/cream there. Either ask the shop assisstant, or if you're too embarressed, look for something called Vagisil or Canesten cream. But make sure you read what it says on the packet! Anyway there's no need to be shy, just wait til there's not many other customers around (that's what I did, I lurked for quite a while!), look confident like you know what you're doing and you'll find it's not so bad. Good luck! It's better than being itchy!

MissUnique agony auntDon't worry about it, it won't be really serious, just more uncomfortable because you've had it for a year.

If you don't want to tell your mum, have you got a older sister or a cousin, an aunty maybe that you'd rather tell? Go to the chemist and you can get over the counter treatment for it, some are antibiotics, some are cream, some are both. It'll clear up soon enough. Don't be embarassed about it, it's really common especially when you're going through puberty. I think the best answer would be able to tell your mum, after all she's been through life before and she cares about you.

Thrush is really uncomfortable and believe me, once you get it out into the open, it won't seem so embarassing. Your mum would want to know if you're feeling low, even because you're uncomfortable, which thrush is.

I ramble on too much :)

Sorry and good luck!

Lindie :)

Thrush is really common and especially amongst girls going through puberty. It can be treated with medication like canestan which can be bought at the chemists. Don't be embarrassed to tell your mum, it's absolutely nothing to be ashamed of and Ive had it loads of times and so have a lot of my friends. If it does continue make sure you go see your doctor who can prescribe something stronger.

If your worried that you may have got this through sex then don't. Thrush can be caused by many things including your period, taking some antibiotics, allergies, some perfumes and cosmetics and even just being a bit run down.

Please tell your mum and get some medication and soon you wont have this problem anymore.

Tisha-1 agony auntI think you're really not unusual in being embarassed to talk to your mum about your worry with thrush. I think too that it is important that you do tell her that you're having a problem and think that you should see the doctor really soon.

"Mom, I've been worried about something and I hope you don't mind that I'm really embarassed to tell you. It's just that I think I may have thrush and I am getting really concerned. Please don't laugh at me or get angry, I need your help right now."

That ought to do it. If you can't tell her, write her a note. Use your own words if mine don't work for you.

But you do need to have this checked out soon so that it's not a problem later!

Good luck.

Hi...please dont worry about this , all you need to do is go to your local chemist and ask for something to cure it...they usually give you a powder solution which you mix with water to flush it out.

Thursh causes a burning sensation when passing water, and can give you the impression that you need the loo all the time...very easily cured and not dangerious, just very uncomfortable for you.

Go to the chemist asap and it will be gone in days.

Pure orange, I have found will give me thrush, as I believe it may be to much vit.c but it is different for all people.

and stop worrying...go sort it. xxxx
