Hi guys i just wanted to know what skin care or hair care i can use to smell nice all the time. I like to keep clean and groomed, but the only problem is i sweat a lot in my underarms so i have to use deos a lot. But now i have also heard that deos can cause cancers. Does anybody have good suggestions of how to smell nice all the time.

Whisper agony auntok......obviously the best thing would be to use a natural kind of underarm sprey, these are quite new on the market and are only sold in health stores or from The Body Shop.(not sure if you have one near you?) They are quite expensive, but apparantly only contain natural ingredients that are completely safe to use. The other option could be to wash regularly and maybe use talc under your arms.Your diet has a lot to do with how you smell also, Good luck xx

I heard about this too but I don’t believe it because there are so many things that people come up with and say “oh if you do this, you’ll get cancer, if you do that you’ll get cancer” you know, like the simplest things you do in life all of a sudden you shouldn’t do it because it’ll give you cancer. And half the time it’s not even true. The way how I see it, just live your life. We are all going to die someday so there is no need to live your life in such restriction. Life is too short to live it in fear.

“In 2002 a study lead by Dana Kay Mirick, an epidemiologist at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre in Seattle confirmed that there was no link between breast cancer and anti-perspirants. Her study published in the journal of the National Cancer Institute, examined the personal hygiene habits of 813 women with breast cancer and 793 women without the disease, and found no correlation between cancer and the use of body odour control cosmetics.”

1. Cancer concern

I think the concern re cancer is not about deodorant but anti-perspirant - deodorant just adds smell, anti-perspirant blocks your pores so you can't perspire.

The thought is that if it blocks pores under your arms, then the toxins that might otherwise come out that way will stay inside slightly increasing the risk of breast cancer. I don't know if this has been proved.

But if you are concerned, just use deodorant instead of anti-perspirant.

2. Avoiding BO

Sweat only smells when it is dry and stale. This is avoided primarily by washing but also diet.

Shave under your arms, because it is easier to wash dried sweat off a shaved armpit.

Wash with soap under your arm morning and evening, and if you are a very heavy sweater, you can always carry a flannel / face cloth and soap in a cosmetic bag and wash during the day.

Make sure you change and wash your clothes regularly - change your bra daily and change whatever clothing is next to your armpits on a daily basis too, as clothing can carry smells.

Also, make sure you wash your towel and bedding at least weekly too, as these can also carry smells.

Regarding your diet, drink more water to purify your body and eat a healthy diet high in fruit and vegetables and low in processed food, caffeine, alcohol, drugs and tobacco - this will eliminate toxins from your body. Sweat takes toxins out of your body, so if you have a purer diet, there will be fewer toxins to take out.

3. Smelling nice

You should want to smell nice to please yourself and everyone round you, not just guys you might want to attract.

The best smell is your own, clean natural smell. The more unperfumed things you use, the purer your body will be - a lot of cosmetics have additives which are not good for you.

Perfume was invented to cover putrid smells in the days before soap was invented and people simply did not have access to hot running water on a regular basis, nor enough clothes to change them regularly. If you are clean, you shouldn't need perfume.
