 Sometimes in the heat of the moment our hips just start thrusting. I wouldn't read too much into it. It sounds like you're leading a good sex life. Do you communicate during sex? Do you guide eachother? If not, then I would suggest starting to do that. It will leave you both more fulfilled and keep questions like this from popping into your head.

 Ok well maybe its just his ego and he wants to be the one doing all the leading. Maybe he just feels happier this way. However if this is getting to you then you need to sit down and talk honestly with him ask him what he likes and ask him to show you what he would like you to do.
