A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I broke up with my boyfriend of two years the other day. He is emotionally unstable in my opinion, I'm not trying to be rude I'm dead serious. I'm deciding tonight weather to go back with him. He has controlled me and emotionally abused me to some extent in the past year. I know I should jsut leave him but I need him, I love him. I'm afraid of what will happen tonight if I tell him I'm gone. He said if he cant have me he doesnt know if he can live. He's thought of suicide before... His mom scheduled a doctors appt today to get help, he may be depressed or bipolar... She said he jsut needed a kick to get back to normal and that he will change. She called me crying to get back with him because he stayed up the night before with her balling and she says he loves me sooo much. She wants to see us together. I love him and his family so much, does anyone think I can atleast stay to see if he will change after they give him whatever he needs. I love him soo much and I know he'll do anything for me, but is the unrealistic? My mom says I shouldnt but I dont know what I should do... I love him

Get out of this and forget about him. Get counseling too. I mean i've been there and it has taken years to regain my self worth. I've done too many things i regret because of one stupid relationship. And no you don't love him you were manipulated for such a long time that you feel like you have to love him. Just stop and forget about this move on you're young there's plenty of guys in the world and as for his mom hang up the phone.

Good luck and stay safe

There is no way in hell his mother should be putting pressure on you to get back with him. Although she probably doesn't know what he's done to you.

Call her and tell her what he has done to abuse you and how he has controlled you. Do it in a calm way and then tell her that you will only give him another chance once he gets help and changes and will not treat you badly any more.

I know how it feels to be with someone who treats you badly and let me tell you that although you want him, and love him, you never ever NEED a boy to go on living.

In a week or so when things have calmed down, please trust me when I say this, you will be LOVING the freedom you have and the fact that you no longer have to feel trapped and upset by him all the time.

Tell his family that you will not deal with him until he gets help and changes his behaviour and then go out with your friends and have some fun.

Good Luck!! xx
