I've been out of work for a long time and i want to do something, even if its only a temporary job. I have thought about signing up with recruitment agencies, but the only recruitment agencies i can find have office and retail jobs. i have had experience in both of those, but i havent worked in a shop or an office for a long time. to be honest, i dont really like doing that kind of work, but i may not have a choice. i know i could always think " well it's only temporary, so i'll be finishing soon " but i still feel funny about working again after being stuck in a rut for so long. i also worry about being the new girl. i used to get bullied , so i worry about that happening again. I'm also considering voluntary work, but obviously, i wouldnt get paid for that. what should i do ?. has anyone here ever done any work with recruitment agencies, and what did you think of it ?. do you earn good money from it too, even though it's only temporary ?.

almasdp, do you know if there are recruitment agencies in London that offer live in jobs ?. i dont live close to there you see, so it would have to be live in really. if you find any information about that and if you could post it here, it would be much appreciated : ) . I have tried applying for some live in jobs there recently through gumtree.com, in bed and breakfast places, but havent had any luck yet. one of my nearest cities is manchester, although it's not very close, it's about 40 mins away, but i'd like to consider both cities.

natmarie agony auntThe bullying. the trick is NOT TO GET TOO INVOLVED WITH ANY OF YOUR COLLEAGUES. Just hold your own corner, and don;t get mixed up in any gossip. the chances of it happening again are slim anyway. Try Brook street recrutiment for office jobs. they always have plenty of work. Goodluck. xx

Hi. I would love to work in a hotel, but unfortunately, i live in a small town, and there arent many hotels here. To do this, i would need to work in a city, but the cities arent very close to where i live, and i would have to use public transport, as i cant drive. i am also interested in Media jobs, but again, they are usually in the city. And obviously, i cant move to a city unless i have a job. It's difficult.

aunt honesty agony auntWell the thing with recruitment agencies is that they take a percentage of your wage for finding you the job therefore i think it would be best to go and look for a job yourself. Have you thought about what line of work you want to do in the future? I wouldnt take a job if its not for you as you wont be happy take a long and hard think about what you would like to do as a career and then move forward from there and find out how you can go around achieving this.

As for bullying in the workplace yes it happens but it can be stopped so dont be worrying about this.
