I wanna ask you people about somethink that bother me about 4-5 years. I have tattoo-phobia.. I hate tattoos. I'm just like, scared when i see person with tattoo, especially someone close to me. I'm afraid that my best friends will someday put tatto on their body. Oneday I talked with my friends about the tattoos and i told them my feelings about them. Two of my best friends agreed with me, but one of them told me that when he'll got his first child he'll tattoo its portrait on his back. From that day that's my bigggest fear...

I wanna ask for advice how to get rid of it, because i don't want to have that terrible phobia about the tattoos FOREVER.. please give me clear answer which you think can help me.

Thank you.

Honeypie agony auntThat sounds like a rather odd phobia ( a lot of phobias are odd though so don't feel bad).

I think you need to find a therapist/counselor and work through this.

You CAN NOT control what other people do. As in, you can't control WHO around you wants a tattoo or gets a tattoo. Nor should you.

Tattoos are as common as jewelry these days, so it's not like it would ever be easy to avoid.

Abella agony auntHi

I have not heard of a phobia concerning tattoos though i would not be surprised if that occurred in some people.

If you explored it with a Counsellor I feel it is possible that something you saw or experienced earlier in your life could have contributed to this phobia.

Though what other people want to do with and to their bodies once they are adults is their decision.

You personally may also have a concern about your own body being given a tattoo. If that is the case then avoid really senseless dumb boys who might think it funny to get you drunk one night and then lead you to a tattoo place.

Currently rich celebrities (who can well afford laser surgery to remove the tattoo) seem to have sparked a lot of interest in tattooing bodies. And there are even shows where people exhibit their body and where they have a piercing and a tatoo or two or (hundreds). Sadly for those who cannot easily afford to have the tattoo removed they often live to regret the tattoo. Even though at the time they think it makes them unique.

I do not concern myself with the decisions of others. They can tattoo every last inch of their bodies, and I do not care. It is their decision.

But I do find it exceptionally sad to see a child or a young adolescent under the age of 16 being given a tattoo.

I do not know if it is not a crime in some countries but I would make it a crime in all countries to tattoo a child. For my feeling to do that to a child is abuse. And not cute and not funny.

Jails are where you will see a huge number of people who do have a tattoo or two (or hundreds) so tattoos do have connotations in the minds of many.

Not, of course amongst the pro-tattoo people who can only see beauty in tattoos.

But if you stood on a street corner in a big city anywhere in the world and asked hundreds of ordinary people from all age groups you may find many people who do not feel positive about tattoo.

And a minority of people who are actually disgusted and revolted by tattoos and who may share your revulsion and phobia about tattoos.

Certainly I would not suggest you get a tattoo to 'get over' your phobia.

Instead I would suggest you try some relaxation therapy to allow your body and your mind to learn to relax when you start thinking about tattoos and when you come into contact with a person with a tattoo.

And avoid walking near a tattoo place. And if you see photos of a person with many many tatoos then busy yourself with something else.

You are still young so it is likely that you have and do and will come into contact with many people who have a tattoo. This is not going to make it easy fr you.

To distract yourself maybe take up a sport that keeps you busy.

And this suggestion may seem too 'old' for you but please consider it: Maybe even take up a relaxing hobby like glass blowing, or making pottery or even water color painting of abstracts. Then you will be on the road to creating real works of art and create unique lovely works of art that you can sell.

I think you need counseling. Tattoos are so common now and days you probably run into hundreds of people with them. It is not a natural fear to have
