A female reader, shiraz United Kingdom +, writes (5 December 2008):

hiyah firstly he seems a bit wrong to assume it was you straight away does that not hurt a bit? he blamed you yet you dont mention that being the problem at all. yes maybe someone is stirring it up but why didnt he notice that? why was he so quick to say it was you who must of told her. id be annoyed at him not missing him! you need to set it straight who said what and then move on to your relationship side. as for that i think he sees you as a mate and unless you talk to him i cannot see it progressing, you need to be the bigger person and go and talk it all through with him, someone has to give that first move approach and im afraid its fallen onto you!

you obviously really like him in more ways than one! and have a lot of respect for him so you should feel you can talk to him. i think the sooner you sort it the less likely you are to loose him as a mate or future boyfriend.

tread carefully though if hes bitching about your mate and nice to her face your in the arkward position and sometimes you have to take a step out and figure your prioritys first.

when your mate likes the same lad also it can turn nasty and its not always worth loosing a mate over, yet he was bitchin and you listened so im not sure if your mate is as close which could make matters worse tread careful or you could end up falling first. best of luck xx
