however i dont think i can just 'not go there' because i love him so much and it would be so hard to through all that away!

 I don't really think you should try and persue this relationship. It's your step cousin, it sounds cute, but you're like sort of family and later on in your lives, if you're together you could cause arguments between your families and if you had kids, that would be incestuous! Don't go there
