I feel like my 3 year relationship has been a mistake and a lie, am I wrong?

Question - (5 August 2010) 1 Answers - (Newest, 6 August 2010)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

So my ex and I broke up a year ago after dating for 2 years. We are still talking and we are still intimate, neither of us has been with someone else.

Today I found out that he had kinda proposed to his ex saying "we will get married in the future and there's no one else I will want to be with" so this has me feeling stupid because I am in love with him but if he said that to someone what are the odds that I will ever be with him again? I just feel like my time is being wasted waiting for him

A female reader, BluntLove United States +, writes (6 August 2010):

Your time is wasted yes. Just cherish the moments you had together, remember why you broke up in the first place and move on. Sleeping with an ex does not mean you're getting back together. It just means you're sleeping with an ex. It's very easy to slip back to being intimate, and trust me we've all done it, but it just makes the healing go on so much longer. He obviously doesn't put as much weight in it as you do if he's saying those things to his ex. So cut your losses early, try to move on, and eventually you'll find someone who will tell you that they can never be with anyone else.
