I don't know if he likes me or not

Hi I'm really unsure whether this guy in my class likes me or not. We went on one date last year but ended up being friends instead. So just before summer we had an argument an I ended up saying lots of offensive things to him (they were a little harsh and I apologised endlessly but he didn't want to talk) and didn't speak at all over the summer. So first day back we got sat next to each and I wasn't sure about acknowledging him at all but he turned round and started talking to me as if nothing happened. I thought something must be up but left it at that until today got me thinking. I walked into assembly and he tapped me on the shoulder saying I looked cold asked if anyone had offered me a coat an he said he would've. I thought he was just being polite but then later on the air con was on and our teacher wouldn't turn it of and he offered his jacket a few times but I refuse cus I knew he was cold. Anyway in the end he put it on the back o my chair an said it was there if I needed it. Eventually I gave in and he said it looked nice on me. Anyway I'm confused cus he's a friend and I don't wanna mess things up. I mean he isn't someone who forgives and forgets so I presumed he wouldn't talk to me ever again and also he doesn't really like my friends but has made a few comments on he wants to get to get on with them.
