k_c100 agony auntI just recommend you speak to your parents about food so they can make sure there is no "bad" food in the house for you to eat when you get hungry, and ask them to only buy fruit, vegetables and other healthy snacks.

I'm not sure where this money you have has come from, I am assuming it is your pocket money/allowance. You can spend it on food if you want to but really your parents should be buying your food and cooking it for you, so I am not sure why you feel you need to buy your own food. But if you are talking about getting hungry when you are out and about, when you would normally use your money to buy junk food - then yes, learn some self-control and instead of buying a burger or something like that, go to a cafe or health food shop and buy a salad or sandwich on brown bread with low-fat meat and no sauce.

You need to learn that just because you are hungry and want whatever is close by and tastes good - this is only going to make you fatter. We cant tell you how to overcome this problem, this is something you need to learn for yourself. Self control has to come from within you, you have to learn how to stop yourself eating even when you might really want it. This is how you lose weight - by realising you cannot have what you want when you want, and that you need to learn to be patient and to not always give in to your stomach when you are hungry. Often hunger pains are actually because you are dehydrated and need more fluid - so try having a bottle of water with you at all times and aim to drink around 1-2 litres of water per day.

A female reader, k_c100 United Kingdom +, writes (27 April 2010):

k_c100 agony auntFirst of all tell your mum that you are serious about losing weight and you need her help, and to do this she needs to stop buying fatty foods so they are not in the house to tempt you. Ask her to buy more fruit and vegetables so when you are hungry you can snack on these.

Starving yourself will not work and you wont lose weight that way - your body will shut down if you do that and will cling on to any little bit of fat and any calories that come its way. So what you need is a balanced diet that is low in fat and relatively low in calories. Here are some tips for you:

1. Stop eating junk food, high fat food and sugary foods. So no food like pizza, burgers, sausages, fizzy drinks, sweets, chocolates etc.

2. Swap white food for the brown versions. So if you eat pasta have wholewheat instead of white pasta. Have brown bread instead of white bread. These foods are wholewheat which means they release energy slowly rather than in one short burst like their white equvialents.

3. Exercise more and eat smaller portions. Try and walk everywhere instead of your mum or dad driving you places. Walking is a great form of exercise and burns lots of calories without you even knowing it. Try and go out jogging once or twice a week, this will help you build up your cardiovascular abilities so you will find army training easier. Are there no activities you and your dad could do together? What sports does he like? Ask him to play tennis with you, play basketball, baseball.....whatever gets you out of the house! Maybe ask your parents if you can join a sports club that runs after school - there must be something organised at school that you might enjoy!

You are young so you will be able to lose the weight quite easily - you just need to learn to control yourself. You have to learn when to stop eating and dont allow yourself to eat whatever you want. Basically the more you move and the less you eat, the more weight you will lose. So put less in your mouth and get out of the house more and you will see a difference. If you are really having problems then go to see your doctor - they will be able to help you and may put you in touch with a nutritionist who will sort out your eating habits.

I hope this helps and good luck!

RAINORFIRE agony auntCanada has an army? oh any way hmmm are you a single child usually people stuf there stomachs and face because there hearts are empty, sounds to me like somebodies a little lonely. any way you need to practice self control only you can control your self. the first step is acknowledging the problem wich youve done now you need to take action.

Your young you can change your eating habbits and get healthy but you have to start now because as you get older it gets harder. you need to tell your parents its their fault if they dont bring n all the fat food you couldnt eat it, the fridge should be stuffed with fruits and vegetbles.

you need to exercise too piking up a remote is not exercise, ask your dad to get you a weight set and then use it and i also suggest talking with a medical proffesional in the field good luck
