I think you should find out his interests and talk about them and after a while you'll be talkin' normally to eachother and you would've forgotten you were shy in the first place.

 Why not double date with one of your friends? As then your mate can get to know your boyfriend better, and you can learn of your friend of how to act with yours, also if this is one of your first relationships you are bound to be shy....also how long have you been with him? as if you aint been together that long you are bound to feel shy around each other...
