I was there myself not that long ago (well OK about 10 years ago now).
I guess it's helpful just trying to think of them as just any other person. If you don't have brothers it's harder to adjust to this relationship because you're not used to boys being around.
I'd just be yourself. Be confident, and say intelligent things, not bimbo things. Be relaxed if you can. Even if it takes a while you'll get there eventually. Maybe do some things with him and your friends to help you loosen up a little.
You're shy just because you like him. It's normal.
And 10 years later you will be confident and normal - it's only in the early years.
I'm not old by the way, just late 20s.

 anything really doll, sports, food, pets, favorite thing, boats, water, fishing, skiing, bike riding, cars, anything you can think of you could be like........*i really love pizza its so good and i really like to put pepperoni on it, what is your favorite food, maybe we can cook it together sometime* sounds stupid but cooking together is a great way to bond w/ your guy.
