Ooo you've inspired me to have a go at my abs too now Thankyou!
I did a kick boxing class a few years ago and we used to do this thing called 50-50-75 which was 50 crunches followed by 50 half sit ups and then 75 full sit ups!
You need to lie on your back with your knees slightly bent up and wedge your feet under something like a couch or get a friend to hold your feet down!
It hurts like hell the first few days but it really works! I know as I did it, and Im so unfit and 20 years older than you! :o) You have youth on your side Dearie so don't worry too much, Im sure you will slim down naturally between now and age 20 or so!

reader, anonymous, writes (8 May 2008): Sit ups are good, but it will take persistence and there is no quick way to do but work at it.
Start off doing what you can, lets say 5 (for a gut and 10 without), after a week or two, when they become easier to do, increase the amount by 3.
If your school has a coach, ask them for help.

Unfortunately you can't pick where your body burns fat, if you've got a little fat around the middle.
To burn extra fat the best thing do is sprints and intervals alternate running/light jogging

Protein is used to build muscle, most American's get way too much I can calculate your actual protein need if you give me your weight.
Excess protein can't be stored by the body so if you don't burn it off it turns to fat, and that fat is often deposited in your middle, disguising those beautiful abs lol. That's why so many buff guys end up with a spare tire too much protein in their diet. You are a growing boy so you need more than most, so don't go avoiding it, you'll never build muscle if you do. Good quality protein can be found in eggs, obviously meat, chicken, fish, beans, tofu, lentils, nuts are fabulous for energy too, seeds, quorn (is a vegetarian meat substitute if you are vegetarian), yogurt, cheese
Because you are still young, it should be easy for you to burn off fat, however putting on bulk will be challenging. To add some bulk you'll need to exercise, not just your abs but the rest of you, combined with a good diet, if are skinny in particular you may need to increase your caloric intake.

By doing sit ups. Do them EVERY DAY!!! Start off by doing a small amount that you can manage. Make sure that you do enough to feel some tightness in that area. Then each day increase the amount you do by 5-10 or more....
Also theres another exercise you can do- lay down on the floor, put your hands underneath your bum, then slowly lift your legs up into the air straight (keeping your feet together). I do both of those each day and it really works.
However, I cant promise how quick it will work. It depends on how much of a 'gut' you have. Nothing good comes easy you know...so dont get disheartened if you dont have awesome abs in one week.
