my 17 year old son wears his jean really low down with his boxers showing and a short t shirt.

Does this mean he is gay or has problems with his sexuality?

A reader, anonymous, writes (27 September 2007):

In days of old, when Knights were bold, their shirts were made of tin . . . anyone whose trousers drooped in this fashion were said to be wearing 'Dung Hampers'.

Oxford Bags were all the rage in the 1930's and came back into fashion in the early 1970's - remember those ridiculous trousers that were about 18" diameter around the turn-up worn above 2" platform shoes - which are also back in fashion?

The fashion these days is to have the bottom of your trousers under your feet and the more puddles you can drag them through, and the more ragged they get, the better! Same as the fashion for leaving the laces of your trainers really loose and dragging your feet everywhere. Not to mention coming out of the school gates and pulling the tail of your shirt out of your trousers. The scruffier the better.

You have to remember that kids these days tend to get picked on if they don't conform to the rest of the crowd. If they've even got the 'wrong' mobile phone, for gawds sake!

Take a look at the rest of his mates and see if they are similarly attired. If not, he's probably trying to set the trend and the next fashion fad. They come and go with rapidity nowadays, and it's difficult to keep up!

It's just a grungy disgusting trend. One lad was wearing a ripe pair of brown boxers with a big hole in them as well. yucky yucks, whatever next.

Jamer70 agony auntNot really. Where i live, wearing your jeans low and showing your boxers is called "sagging" and its just a fad loads of teenagers do. It doesnt mean he is gay or confused hes just follwing a fad.
