How do I tell this guy that I am not interested in him and I have a boyfriend?

i have just been asked out by this guy i really like and have said yes, but i have a dilema and this may sound really vain and the truth is im really not, i know that i am not that great looking and that people fall for my personality not that i am complaining but there is a guy who has liked me for a number of years and i would like to tell him in the nicest possible way that i am uninterested and have a boyfriend...any help would be appreciated :)

It will tell him you have a boyfriend but also gives you a fallback but if you don't like being cheeky say instead.

"I'm taken. If only things were different or you had asked earlier"

It's not going to happen between us because I think of you as a brother and that's all. I hate to disappoint people, so this makes me feel bad to say no, but I know you're such a nice guy that you will understand!"

You're going to have to get used to this, be polite, be gentle, but be firm. No false hope! It will get easier with practice.
