I went in to the pub on Saturday, was going to ask her but I lost my nerve. She has got a ring on her finger (left-hand, third finger from the left). That may not mean anything, but what do you think? On the other hand, no pain no gain!

Plus, the only words I've said to her is 'scampi and chips please'! Wouldn't she think I'm a bit stupid to ask her out out of the blue?

Tisha-1 agony auntWhy not just say that you'd like to give her your number if she'd be interested in a date? That way you don't sound dodgy, you sound interested but not too pushy?

tommy2k7 agony auntYesterday I saw this great girl (the waitress!) in the pub - and I was going to ask her out, by saying, when she took my order, I'll have scampi and chips, and your number! That sounds dodgy doesn't it?

tommy2k7 agony auntThere's this girl who has just started at my local newsagents, that I really want to ask out, but I'm still very nervous! I work on Sat mornings, and only see her when I go and get our elevenses. Any advice?

leanne.od agony aunteveryones fear of rejection clouds there ability to approach the opposite sex, but put it into perspective, what's the worst that could happen? she could say no, and if that happens, pick yourself up and move on.

focus on the fact that girls are just as nervous about being asked! you're young enough and i'm sure as long as you don't use any dodgy chat up lines, you'll be fine!

good luck
