 You aren't inferior to him, but it's not healthy to obsess about someone. Try to let him go.

You arent inferior to him. Just because he has more friends, that does not make him a better person. Just because hes clever, or good looking and popular, that also doesnt mean hes better than you. I bet you have alot of great qualities which make you a great person! So dont let yourself feel bad about yourself, like you are below him, because you are not.
Does he do or say things to make you feel like you arent good enough for him? If, so then you should forget about him because you are too good for him.
How to forget about him? Cut contact with him as much as you can. Avoid seeing and talking to him, dont contact him and if he contacts you, ask him nicely to either not contact you (And tell him why), or just dont reply. Once you have had space from him, you will feel a lot better because the negativity in your life wont be there anymore.
