How can you help out a boyfriend you have just ditched?

hi this question is for all the guys !! iv just split up with my boyfriend today and just woundering can you help me out my boyfriend was on his own for 5 years now im here with 3 grown kids and i love him very much i never wanted this realationship to end i was with him for 6 months but he seems to be very scared he says he really likes me that im everything he wants in a women... but he dont no whats up with him that everytime hes with me he feels the need to get away from me and he says thats not a good sine .now i understand that iv got baggage and he new that before he went out with me .he has no kids and was never married .but i no that when were with each other all is great and he makes me feel like im the only girl on the face of the earth .so i cant understand why he feels like this do you think hes just scared of commitmment as he was very hurt in the past bigtime hurt/he also says we have so much in common we like all the same things we get on so good in every way so why the break up????? do you think that he will come back in time he wants to stay friends but not as girl and boyfriend so what you all think ???im at a loss at what to think or feel??!!!
