How can I say "I love you" to my ex when I'm dating someone else?

Question - (12 October 2010) 1 Answers - (Newest, 12 October 2010)
A female United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

My ex said he likes being single and he wants to go back to that but we only broke up 3 days ago. I'm dating my best friend right now and it's great so far but I miss my ex. He said that he wants to get back together in a few years. Now he's like "can we just be friends for a few years?" and i was like "no because friends can watch other friends date other people and i can't do that with you!" long story short we had a big argument. Then he said he had to go but before he hung up he said "I love you" and out of force of habit i said "i love you too" then of course i froze because i'm dating this other guy now and i can't be saying "i love you" to my ex! I was wondering if anyone could help me i'm young and stupid and i'm freaking out!

Kenj agony auntJust try and forget about it, if you keep dwelling on it its going to ruin your current relationship and friendship.

You may feel different yourself with time. Your ex may have moved on and found someone else by then or you might be deeper in love with your current boyfriend by then.
